The fruits of a Czech economic delegation to Brazil in November 2009 ripened April 14 when Aero Vodochody announced it had signed a contract to help produce a military transport aircraft for Brazil`s Embraer (Empresa Brasileira de Aeronautica), the third-largest aircraft manufacturer in the world and Brazil`s third-largest exporter. Few companies in the world are capable of designing this fixed leading edge, Aero Vodochody is becoming specialized in this very fundamental part of the aircraft, and we`re one of the top in the world in terms of design of this part. The new project is expected to bring in 1 billion Kč ($59.5 million) per year once production ramps up. The first prototype is expected in 2013, the first flight expected in 2014 and deliveries could hit full swing in 2015-16.
